DayOffMap uses versioned static releases, keeps source lineage public and explains which holidays, rest days and vacation days make a recommendation work.
Sources follow an evidence hierarchy
Country facts start with law, an official gazette, a government calendar or a labour authority where available. The MIT-licensed Vacanza Holidays package version 0.102 is an offline calculation seed, not proof that a holiday is official. Community reports are correction leads only.
Every public release keeps source IDs, retrieval dates, jurisdiction and review status. The active release is holidays-2026-08-28.4. Every source record and public JSON path is listed on the data-sources page.
Confidence is visible
Verified means a qualified reviewer checked the claim against a primary official source. Calculated means a stable published rule produced the date. Provisional identifies loaded data that has not passed the required source and release review. Pending means planning data is unavailable.
Estimated or provisional dates are excluded from recommendations by default. A source URL, library output or generated date never upgrades a record to Verified on its own.
Plans are deterministic and explainable
For each date range, the browser classifies configured rest days, eligible public holidays, ordinary workdays, vacation days to request and excluded dates. It applies the selected workweek, jurisdiction, leave budget and objective, then ranks valid plans and removes near-duplicates.
The same release and planner settings produce the same result. A recommendation is informational: it does not approve leave or determine an individual employment right.
The map is geographic context, not a legal boundary statement
Relief uses Natural Earth II 1:50m Shaded Relief and Water 3.2.0. Interactive Admin-0 boundaries use Natural Earth 1:50m vector data pinned to commit ca96624a56bd078437bca8184e78163e5039ad19. Assets are self-hosted and rendered with MapLibre GL JS; the searchable country directory is the map’s text-equivalent navigation.
DayOffMap preserves Natural Earth’s neutral source convention for disputed boundaries and names. It does not redraw a border to make a sovereignty claim. Boundaries, labels and highlights are for general reference and do not determine legal status, territorial title or holiday jurisdiction.

Corrections create a review trail
A correction does not edit a published release in place. It becomes a source-review record, is checked against authoritative evidence and, if accepted, ships in a new immutable release. Previous release files remain reproducible.
Use Report a data issue and include the country or region, affected date, holiday name, page URL, displayed release ID and an authoritative source URL where possible.
